Opening Statements

Tiny Tennis, it's rules, players and competitions is governed by Innoware Ltd. Any requested alterations to the rules should be made in writing to Innoware. Our address is on the contact page.

Tiny Tennis is a competitive game played in good spirits. Any severe act of aggression towards your opponent will result in the you automatically losing the match.

Court Dimensions

The game is played on a 10ft by 10ft arena. The area can be enclosed, although this is not mandatory.

A 3ft high table, with an approximate surface size of an A2 piece of paper should be placed in the centre of the arena.

There is no fixed position of each player, rotating around the table is normal.

No net is used.

If the arena is enclosed, then once the ball has hit the table, the walls are out-of-bounds. However, the player may play the ball off the walls prior to the ball hitting the table.

Serving

Whomever the ball lands closest following a previous point is the designated server. In event of a dispute, the player who lost the last point shall nominate the server.

A legitimate serve is where the ball is struck away from the server and cleanly strikes the top surface of the table. The ball may not exit the table spinning towards the server.

In an enclosed area, the ball may strike a wall before the table, so long as it does not exit the table on the side where the player first served.

If the ball bounces off the table and either hits the wall (in an enclosed area), or lands outside of the 10ft markers, without first touching the paddle of the other player, then the ball is 'out' and the point is lost.

A ball that would have been 'out', but is prevented from being so by hitting the other player by accident, is still classed as 'out'.

Returning

On returning (and on any subsequent shot), players are allowed to juggle the ball, as in Volleyball, a maximum of three times. On the third juggle, the ball must next strike the table, or the point is lost.

In an enclosed area, the player may use the walls between bounces on his paddle.

Fouls

A player may not deliberately touch the ball with any part of his body, or he will lose the current point.

If the ball bounces on the table and either hits the wall (in an enclosed area), or lands outside of the 10ft markers, without first touching the paddle of the other player, then the ball is 'out' and the point is lost.

A ball that would have been 'out', but is prevented from being so by hitting the other player by accident, is still classed as 'out'.
